Overview

Banish ‘Bored-Room’ training by discovering the research-proven approaches and easy-to-use tools to bring your online, and in-person teaching into the connected era.

This course takes educators on a journey from Education island to the new e-Education island. Here educators will learn about the two sides of the island – the Digital Zone and the Connected Zone and why it is critical that we learn to teach in the Connected Zone. By being introduced to the ACT (Active Connected Teaching) pedagogies, educators are given a bridge to help transition to become effective, engaging, teachers. The course is packed with many examples of free tools that can be used to support Connected-era teaching and learning allowing educators to chart their own course towards effective 21st-century teaching.

On top of the course, you will also receive access to the following:

  1. ACT Lesson Plans – A repository of 100’s of pedagogy-based lesson plans. Here you can share your lesson plans and find ready-to-go lesson plans to use in your teaching.
  2. ACT Toolbox – This is where you find the “How To” guides that are referred to in the course, plus many more. You can easily search for lessons on tools or topics. You can also browse by category, plus you can leave comments, suggestions, and new ideas.
  3. ACT Forum – An open forum for conversations around teaching with technology, connecting you with educators around the world.
  4. ACT Tools – this is where members of the Activated Academy share great tools they have found – but more than this, they are also linked to the ACT pedagogies and how you can use them.
  5. Digital Age Teaching Glossary – a glossary of words that you will find used in the various ACT courses. You will be able to click the words and see its definition. This makes it easier to remember what various tech/education words mean.

The ACT Toolbox is your repository of “How-To” lessons. Here you can easily search for lessons on tools (e.g. Zoom) or topics (e.g. Curation). You can also browse by category (e.g. Google or Chaos), plus you can leave comments, suggestions, and new ideas.
